5-Phase Program:
SESSION 1: SETTING YOURSELF UP FOR A SUCCESSFUL RECRUITING SEASON
Let’s sit down and make a plan for how we can make this year move you closer to your college dream experience! It’s hard to get what you want if you don’t know what you want. We will talk about how to create a vision for what you want, provide a step-by-step guide to get you on your way, and even give you the nuts and bolts of how to communicate with college coaches when that time comes! Bring your pen and paper because we have a lot of planning to do!
SESSION 2: GET IN THE FLOW
Have you ever heard professional athletes talk about how they can get so focused they are in a state of flow? This session will teach you about a term called, “coherence,” which basically means we will help you “get in the zone.” Playing in a state of coherence is shown to lead to faster reaction time, improved focus, and a better ability to take in new information. In this session, we will work through an activity that helps put you in the flow before each match!
SESSION 3: MANAGING STRESS
Let’s face it…stress is a part of life. But have you ever noticed when you’re stressed your body feels differently than when you’re not stressed? That’s because stress really knocks our body into a state of survival! In this session, we will work through techniques to stop the impact of stress, reverse the energy drain it can have, and neutralize the emotions tied to the stressful situation.
SESSION 4: BEING A GOOD TEAMMATE
One of the best things about sports is they give you a platform to work on important life skills…like being a good teammate! Our emotions and attitudes affect others both positively and negatively, even when we aren’t aware of them. In our session, we will talk about aspects of being a good teammate which will help your team get in sync for those BIG matches.
SESSION 5: LEARNING TO BE ASSERTIVE
Speaking up can be terrifying! Whether it’s to your coach about a play-time issue, a teacher about a grade, or a fellow peer about something you don’t agree with, speaking up can require guts to face the situation! We will go over how to be direct and speak with confidence.
